Hello, my name is Coty Walker and I am 18 years old. I live in Aurora, Colorado and just recently graduated High School. In my life I've been taught that if I work hard I can be successful in life. To me being successful means being able to give back to the community and what greater community is there than the world. This past year I have been working hard to raise money to help the world through a program called Up With People. I still need to raise a lot of money for the program tuition though, so any help you could give is always appreciated 

 

Up With people is an internationally traveling community service and performance group. The group travels in schools of 100 people for six months to help in community service projects around the world and to preform for the people they meet in each country they visit. The participants help out in community service projects in ever place they visit. Sometimes it's helping to dig an irrigation system, sometimes it's playing with kids who have cancer. The cast this year actually helped out with habitat for humanity and were able to put up the walls for a house in just one day! Up With People also puts on a show for everyone they meet everywhere they go. Sometimes it's just for a crowd of less than 100 people, other times it's for an entire stadium at the Superbowl! So far Up With People has gotten the chance to perform at 4 Superbowl events! Since their start in 1965, Up With People has committed over 3 million hours of community service and performed for over 20 million people in 38 different countries around the world.

 

Up With People also provides a great educational experience for all of its participants, who have come from 95 countries around the world. Each participant gets first hand experience in performance, community service, communication, and technical skills. I am an aspiring actor who has dreams of performing not only at DCPA but hopefully even Broadway someday. I admit my theater experience isn't that impressive but my ambitions are more than enough to make up for it! This program provides a great opportunity for me to grow as a performer. I'll be traveling for six months, performing every week! It's really exciting. Participants are also able to step outside of their comfort zone and learn about the cultures they visit as they live with host families everywhere they go. Since it's start, over 20,000 alumni have been graduated from the program and have loved the experience.
