Methodology

The subject matter is described in a few succinct words (the Title).  The letters are then converted into Morse Code.  This is drawn onto paper using different styles of dots and dashes.  Colours are applied which evoke the mood of the described subject and the result is photographed.  Through computer manipulation, an abstract image is created which is used as a starting point to produce studies as a precursor to the final outcome.  The finished work has become a painting derived from language, coded, modified through computer technology, finally to be rendered in oils, acrylics or mixed media.  The now ambiguous painting has become a metaphor for the described scene.

The following is a simplified overview of the process.

1 The dots and dashes represent the words -  "Blue Sky White Clouds"

2 First abstract image created in Photoshop.

3 Second abstract image.

4 Finished painting evolved from image no.3
