MAD DOGS (Fall 2007)
MAD DOGS (Fall 2007)
(7-2) Record THREE-PEAT!!! MVP: Elizabeth Gouchon DEFENSE: Mark Yeargin ROOKIE: Mark Yeargin 6TH MAN: Phillip Chan MOST IMPROVED: Elizabeth Gouchon Trailing 5-points in the final seconds of the championship, all hope seemed bleak before a miracle three breathed life into one of the greatest comebacks (or chokes, for the Monkeys) of all-time, as the Mad Dogs marked their 5th title in 6 seasons. A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow wasn't always apparent amidst a regular season clouded by uncertainty and drama. The Mad Dogs record 19-game win streak was snapped on 10/17/07 at the hands of Franklin Templeton (45-72), the worst defeat in franchise history. As it turns out, a girl was at the focal point of igniting a bevy of pent up anger into a raucous altercation. With seconds remaining in the twenty-plus blowout, Nate exhibited his Gary Payton lock-down defense, hounding Franklin Templeton's brunette, fortuitously tipping her over in the process. In a split second, a male teammate came to her defense and shoved Nate, who bounced off his two-handed enforced thrust like a tennis ball propels off Andy Roddick’s racket. “DON’T EVER F*CKIN’ TOUCH HER AGAIN,” the Franklin Templeton player barked in a fit of roid’ rage, staring downward at Nate, who lay frozen on the floor. A female Mad Dog threw in her two cents, further brewing the bad blood in this new founded rivalry. “Sorry my play leads to a lot of distractions,” publicly apologized Nate to his teammates afterwards. The following week, the John "Kenny" Wong experiment went awry when his friend,(Sam) tagged along, even causing the usually mild-mannered Sherman to quit the team (he later retracted). The Mad Dogs showed remarkeable resiliency against the rival Monkeys, largely in part to the return of former teammate Kenny Wong (last appearance 2/22/06). With 0:10 left and tied (36-36), the Mad Dogs had a chance to close out the game but the ball dribbled off Kenny's foot as he attempted to drive in. The Monkeys would score with 0:04 left, but the Mad Dogs were unable to get a shot off before the buzzer. After a second straight defeat, team morale and chemistry was at an all-time low - that aura of invincibility had all but evaporated. With a Halloween break and bye that followed, the Mad Dogs had 3 long weeks to reflect on their recent misfortunes and allow it to marinate - before they would play again. The battered Mad Dogs closed out the final two games on a high note to lock in the #3 seed. Santa Mad Dog paid a vist to the team to uplift the team in the playoffs as the team avenged both regular season losses in the postseason, including the undefeated Monkeys. So. AWESOME.
So. AWESOME.
Designed as part of a laser-tag like game, Jasman's Laser Pursuit system will aim to recreate the Halo experience, in which player's must drain one another's rechargeable shields before administering a true kill. The first two guns to premier will be the pictured Covenant Plasma Rifle and Pistol. Both will launch in October 2007, and will be followed by a Covenant Energy Sword in 2008. Each of the weapons was designed to be as true to the Halo franchise as possible. The Plasma Rifle will feature lights and recoil similar to the game, and will overheat when shot too many times in a short period. The Pistol will also feature lights, sounds, recoil vibration, and a charged-shot mode that will do more damage than a normal blast. According to a Q&A posted at Bungie, Jasman toys is avoiding releasing any USMC weapons due to the fact that they'd look too realistic and would have to be bright orange to be sold in toy stores. The company isn't ruling out anything, however, and if the Covenant weapons prove to be a hit there may be a possibility of getting the opposing set of weapons.
