Miracle at the Hamilton's

Back in October Gary went in to see his doctor for a simple, shoulder exam. During the exam, our doctor pointed out that there was a large lump on Gary’s forearm. He asked if we knew anything about it, and we told him about how we had noticed it two months earlier, but not thought too much about it(Although Lynette argues she always knew it was SOMETHING). Then he recommended we go to a specialist in Corvallis for further review. There we were told it appeared to be a fatty tissue lump. He was sent in for an MRI to be sure, which was a testing of our faith in itself! (Gary is VERY claustrophobic)
The results showed that it was very consistent to a low grade sarcoma. He was then referred to OHSU to be examined. A biopsy was done to ensure that the lump was truly a sarcoma. The results would tell us if it was a low grade, high grade, or benign tumor. High grade would mean radiation and chemotherapy treatment. Low grade would mean the cancer would be removed and regular follow up would be necessary to make sure it wouldn’t return. And benign meant that the tumor was not cancerous. The results of the biopsy told us that it was not benign, but cancerous. We just weren’t sure what grade it was. So they left it up to our doctor at OHSU, and she said she was 99% sure it was low grade. The next step was to schedule surgery and have it removed. We felt that the Lord

was drawing us close to him in preparation of the surgery, so as a family we decided to have hands laid on Gary at the Saturday night prayer meeting. It was prayed out that we should not even worry about low grade or high grade but, in complete faith, ask God for a no grade tumor. The surgery took place two weeks
later. We then needed to wait another three weeks for the results. After the three weeks were up, we drove to Portland for the results, not knowing what to expect, but had a genuine peace about it. We fully expected to be told that the cancer had been removed and regular follow up would be scheduled, but the moment we walked into our doctor’s office, she told us the answer to the question we had been laying before God these past few months: There was no longer cancer! The tumor came back benign whereas before the doctors had crossed that option off. The doctor stressed how this was the first good news she had given that day, and we knew that it was a true gift from God. A miracle in our eyes. We knew fully and completely that the Lord had healed Gary. We have and will continue to give all glory to God.
Through it all there has been a peace that has surpassed all understanding, knowing we were in His loving care the whole time, no matter the outcome.. We also know that having a church family is Gods perfect plan, for it was Calvary Corvallis’s love, prayers and support that has carried us through.
