Message from our Art Teacher

Hello Families! It has been another amazing year of successes in the Cornelia art room! I personally heard many, many compliments to the Cornelia artists from visitors of both spring shows! The District wide Elementary Art show at the library and the District Office shows have been taken down and are back at Cornelia waiting for a safe ride home!! Some small projects and kids who have arranged pick up have taken them home, but the rest are here and ready to take. All flat work has been matted and you are welcome to keep the mats for your own displays. Most of the works are quite large and a challenge to bring home on the bus. Please try to make a trip over to school to pick up the artwork so it can make it home safely!! My hearty congratulations go out to these fine artists. Talent like this makes teaching art here a wonder!

Parent Survey

Dear Cornelia Families,

Spring is a time of growth.  This spring I would like your feedback so that I can grow as a professional.  Last year many of you completed an online survey that I used to evaluate my performance and plan for the future.  I would appreciate your feedback again this school year.  Click HERE to complete Chris Holden’s 2011-12 Parent Survey.

By completing this survey you will provide me with valuable information as I evaluate my fourth year at Cornelia and plan for my fifth year.

Chris Holden, Principal

What is RTI?

RTI is how Personalized Learning is being delivered at Cornelia, and directly impacts your student's learning experience. Learn more by watching this brief slideshow from Principal Chris Holden.

Are You Current in School View?

Having the most up-to-date parent information is critical for effective communication with our school families. Please take a moment to check your School View account to ensure current contact information, particularly a current email address. Directions for making changes.

How can I find out what's going on around Cornelia?

How can I reach our Cornelia Community?

There are several ways Cornelia Elementary, the Edina Public Schools, and the Cornelia PTO communicate with Cornelia parents and the surrounding community - they are virtually all via email or website, so it is critical that all Cornelia families have a working email address on file in SchoolView.

1) Visions Newsletter: the newsletter comes out every 2 weeks, on Thursdays. You can submit items for the newsletter to editor Tia Finkenaur at tfinkenaur@comcast.net, and the deadlines for submission are posted on this PTO website's calendar.

2) Weekly Emails from Cornelia: The Cornelia e-News is delivered to your inbox on Tuesdays. If you'd like to send information about a PTO event that you are running, please send that information to Cameon Carver by Monday night at cameonc@hotmail.com. Additional emails are sent during the week when we need feedback from parents or have something to share with the Cornelia Community.

3) Cornelia Elementary Website: in addition to the Parent Communication Station, there's lots of great information stored HERE, including staff information, classroom websites, grade-level information, and links to the school district. Media Center Director Sherron Gaughan is Cornelia's webmaster: shegaughan@edina.k12.mn.us.

4) Cornelia PTO Website: at this website, you can find volunteer opportunities, contact information for PTO events and committees, the PTO calendar, and more. You can submit items for the website to Leslie Iyer at leslie_iyer@yahoo.com

Communications Note: the Edina Public Schools does not send home informational flyers from local community groups or extracurricular activity vendors. Our families may receive information about activities at school, school district programs and events and other school-related news. Edina Schools will assist in posting non-school options on a social networking space linked to our Facebook page Families interested in the wide variety of options available to them should subscribe (RSS) or check the site for such information. Please be sure that you notify the principal’s office if you have no electronic access available to you and wish to know about such opportunities.
