We've already been back for a month so I thought this would be a good time to remind students that the year is going by faster than they probably think it is...

Marks cutoff for term 2 for the grade 12s is on February 17th, for all other grades, the 24th (in my classroom at least).

There are only four weeks until Spring Break, and then only one week left in March once we get back.

After that, it's only April and May (interrupted by Easter long weekend, Victoria Day and a couple of Pro-Ds) until June which means review, review, review.

For those students who are finding themselves falling behind, now is the time to catch up. We will be moving forward quickly in order to ensure we get through the rest of the topics this year!

Over the next few days I'm going to try and get MOST of the handouts from the past two weeks for all classes online attached to blog posts. For the time being that includes anything that is four pages or less.

Blogs WILL be updated soon. I will list work assigned during the last two weeks of school before Winter Break, however students will also be receiving "Missing Work" lists over the next week. I'll also make it my resolution to try and keep them more up to date!

Missing work lists for Com 12 - Block E and Com 11 - Block F were handed out today (January 3rd). Missing work list for remaining classes will follow the schedule below:

Com 12 - Block B - Wednesday, January 4th
Com 11 - Block D - Wednesday, January 4th
Psych 11 - Monday, January 9th and Tuesday, January 10th
Socials 8 - Tuesday, January 10th

I hope everyone enjoys their Winter Break! The blogs will be updated over the holidays and "missing work" lists will be handed out the first couple of days back in January.

The following blocks have already received their term one marks which should be brought home to be signed:

Block A Psychology 11, Block B Communications 12, Block D Communications 11, Block E Communications 12, Block F Communications 11.

Block G Social Studies 8 and Block H Psychology 11 will receive their marks on Thursday, December 1st.

Just wanted to repeat something that many of you have heard from me over the last couple of weeks. Too many of you waste the class time I give you to work on assignments... Probably telling yourself that you'll get it done later or for homework. Well, guess what? This just doesn't work. It's a procrastination technique that ends with you not handing your work in.

So, a reminder to you all: Use your class time! On average I give you enough time to finish your assignments during the block... Wouldn't you want to get your work done now so you don't even have to worry about homework, or, worse, missing work?

Sorry for not keeping the course blogs up to date. By the end of the day today I will post two updates for each course outlining the work we've done over the past two weeks.

Also, new interim reports will be printed at the end of this week / beginning of next week to be sent home to get signed.

This week I'll be taking a look at how all students are doing in each of my blocks... By next week I should be able to tell you where you are currently standing (marks-wise) in class and let you know of any work missed. Remember, however, late assignments ARE NOT accepted after they have been marked and handed back so if you have missed an assignment you will need to speak with me about how you can make up missed work.
