  • predilection: a predisposition in favor of something; "a predilection for expensive cars"; "his sexual preferences"; "showed a Marxist orientation"
  • Favor shown to one person or thing over another or others
  • A greater liking for one alternative over another or others
  • A thing preferred

    toric
  • Toric is a village in the municipality of Bileca, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • In optics, a toric lens is a type of lens whose surface is a combination of a sphere and a cylinder. One surface of the lens is spherical, the other toroidal. Such lenses are commonly used for vision correction, in cases where there is astigmatism.
  • Having the form of a torus or part of a torus
  • (of a contact lens) Having two different curves instead of one, used to correct both astigmatism and near- or farsightedness
  • A lens design with two different optical powers at right angles to each other for the correction of astigmatism.

Readernaut user preferences
Readernaut user preferences
Readernaut's preferences interface is a good piece of interaction design. First, the link to preferences is part of the global, utility navigation in the header. Minus one point for the icon that 'makes you think'. Second, rather than load a new page, you edit preferences immediately on whatever page you're on. This is preferable to a new page because the number of preferences is not worth loading a new page. Third, rather than jarringly make the new layer appear, Readernaut uses a nice sliding transition. The interaction in the preferences pane is similarly well-executed. Hover states, immediate feedback on change, and easy to both explore and recover from unwanted choices.

nee / ja mail preferences
i can't read these but they seem to be telling folks the preferences of the mailbox owners (covering papers, catalogs and/or menus, as well as mail, maybe?). seems a sensible way to cut down on unwanted material, if i'm right. i noticed these on almost every mail slot in amsterdam. anyone know the full story here?
