Mr. James Hull

Dear Mr. Hull:

Thank you for contacting my office regarding President Obama’s recent dismissal of Inspector General Gerald Walpin.  I appreciate your taking the time to share your views.

In response to Congressional concerns, the Obama Administration sent a letter to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs detailing the circumstances under which Inspector General Walpin was dismissed.  This letter included specific information about Mr. Walpin’s fitness to serve and noted that his dismissal was supported by the bipartisan Board of the Corporation for National and Community Service.  As dialogue on this subject continues, please be assured that I will keep your views in mind.  I hope that you will continue to share your views with us in the years ahead.

I invite you to visit my website at www.webb.senate.gov for regular updates about my activities and positions on matters that are important to Virginia and our nation.

Thank you once again for contacting my office.

Sincerely,

Jim Webb

United States Senator
