Milstein Family Heart Center Opens in New York City

The Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center opened in January, 2010 as part of the latest step in improving the cardiac care at the prestigious New York-Presbyterian/Columbia Medical Center; in continuation of years of dedication and support of health care initiatives in New York and elsewhere.

This state-of-the-art inpatient and outpatient facility was made possible with the generous donation of a $50 million dollar gift from the Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family.

The facility will usher in a brand new era in comprehensive cardiac care as it opens with one of the largest donations in the history of gifts to the hospital. The facility will be able to provide the newest treatments and diagnostic technologies available today, usually less invasive, more accurate and needing less time.

The Milstein Family has been associated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center since the mid-1950s. Serving as Chairman of the Board from 1989 until 1996, Seymour Milstein was there at a time of great growth and expansion of the hospital.

Seymour Milstein’s daughter, Connie Milstein,  continues in her father’s footsteps, serving as Hospital trustee since 2000 on several important committees, including the Quality and Performance Improvement Committee.
