Connie’s Bakery Helping the Family Resource Center of Peekskill, Inc.

When you go to Connie’s Bakery to enjoy their delicious home-style cooked cookies, cakes and more, you are also helping very important causes.  This is because the bakery, owned by Connie Milstein, donates 100% of its after-tax profits to worthy charitable organizations each year.  Through their Foundation Sweet Success, they designate six organizations to be the recipients of their charitable giving.

One of these organizations, The Family Resource Center of Peekskill, Inc. is a non-profit organization that offers housing counseling and housing help.  They have 18 units, 8 of which are designated as temporary emergency housing units.  FRC is a Department of Housing and Urban Development certified Housing Counseling Agency.

They offer counseling for first-time homebuyers, financial money management, reverse mortgage counseling, and more.  They also have a youth mentorship stipend paid program that helps socio-disadvantaged youth to gain work experience.  In addition, they have a non-profit emergency pantry program called “Harvest Time” which offers over 135 bags of food to needy families.  This occurs on a weekly basis and is given out on a first come, first serve basis.
