According to Connie Milstein, who is a co-founder and Chairman of the Humpty Dumpty Institute, this organization is an excellent example of private citizens and governments working together for a common goal. In the case of Humpty Dumpty, the international mission is to remove land mines all over the world. Here in the United States, however, the goal is to strengthen the connections between the United Nations and the Congress of the United States. The hope is that together with bi-partisan support in Congress, and together in cooperation with the United Nations, the removal of the mines can proceed efficiently and quickly.At the moment Humpty Dumpty is applying for grants to remove mines in Sri Lanka and Afghanistan while work is now under way in Angola. |
