The Department of Mature Worker Services’ (MWS) programmatic focus is to assist mature workers in becoming economically self-sufficient. Through employment and training opportunities, MWS prepares adults 45 and older for entry into the workforce. Services include technology training, social service and education referrals and the Mature Worker Program.

The Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration has appointed the National Urban League to assist in the administration of Mature Worker Program. Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts offers services to men and women age 55 plus who are at or below poverty level and reside in Norfolk and Suffolk Counties.

Transitions Career Center

The Presbyterian Church of Needham welcomes you to the new Transitions Center for use by those that find themselves making a “transition” from one job to seeking another. Transitions is free of charge to residents of our surrounding communities. For those who are able, we ask that you help to keep Transitions open by paying nominal fees to cover the costs of food, supplies, and printing.

Center hours: 9:00 am - noon, Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs (Groups and speakers are scheduled at 10 AM; see our calendar for updates).

  • Monday is WORK Day - Start the week right, get organized, fine-tune resumes, do research. Computers are available to use.
  • Tuesday is Self-care day- Group work with counselor Elaine Putnam on all aspects of taking care of yourself.
  • Wednesday is Learning Day - Speakers scheduled on various topics
  • Thursday is Networking day - Structured meeting to share contacts and ideas.

is a part of JVS of Greater Boston created in partnership with Combined Jewish Philanthropies to provide customized career counseling services, job search assistance, job leads, networking opportunities and mentoring to professionals in the Greater Boston area. Career Moves also specializes in serving employers by matching professional job candidates with corporate recruitment needs.


Free Computer Skills Training Through JVS


Career Moves at Jewish Vocational Services has received funding that will enable them to provide free short-term computer training in Boston to help individuals who are not yet computer savvy. In today's workplace, it is important for professional-level workers to have technical skills as a prerequisite for being hired.
