Community, Outreach, Networking: Navigating the Economic Crisis Together @ Temple Israel

Dear Congregants, Beacon Academy Parents and TI Staff,

Welcome to the website of CONNECT @ TI, Temple Israel’s response to the economic crisis. Even as we feel the weight of this historical moment, we celebrate the blessing of being part of our Temple Israel community that makes us stronger as we come together in support and response.

We have started this work in two ways: first by listening to each others’ stories; and second by developing a number of Working Groups that are addressing issues such as job loss, retirement planning, and housing. See links [below] for more information.

This spring we are launching two complementary efforts:

  1. A temple-wide telephone outreach and assessment effort - Neighborhood Connections - to learn more about the impact this crisis is having on Temple Israel members, the families of Beacon Academy and TI Staff. As our understanding of the needs of the community deepens, this will shape the direction and plans of our response within Temple Israel.
  2. A series of House Meetings is being organized by Ohel Tzedek where congregants can share their stories, build relationships, and discuss how we, as members of the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization, might address the root causes of the economic crisis through a variety of local, statewide and national actions with other congregations in GBIO.

We look forward to updating you as this work progresses via email, the TI website and the Temple Bulletin.
