PACIFIST POETRY AND SHORT STORY WORLD COMPETITION OBJECTIVES The Pacifist Poetry and Short Story World Contest seeks to encourage people and writers in particular (professional and amateur), to reflect, analyze and write about pacifism in all its forms, from all perspectives, and beyond the mere rejection of weapons and violence. It seeks the creation of a space for expression in which those who wish to raise their voice to stop the multiple and diverse acts that are done on a daily basis against humanity and its environment are welcome, with the justification of the defense of a freedom that is only enjoyed by those who hold the power. A space to also denounce the fallacy of a freedom and a power that enslaves the oppressed and oppressors equally. We therefore seek to open the competition to as many people as possible throughout the world. We currently have a few limitations. Language is one of them, and we are trying to solve it by contacting translators and looking for judges in as many languages as possible. Technology is another limitation because not everyone has it, however it provides access to people throughout the world, who can submit their work at a lower cost than sending a hardcopy. Lack of money is another problem that we will try to overcome with free access to the competition and with the use of telecommunication technologies, for cost reduction. Our effort is directed so that as many people as possible can express their ideas, concerns and impressions about pacifism and its roll in today's world, through literature, with the possibility that their work is read by thousands and, hopefully, millions of people in multiple languages. Because of the above, we do not charge for the participation of applicants and members of the organization. We are not paying salaries either, nor looking for sponsorships from governments or private organizations. All work is being supplied by volunteers or/and barter. Judges, translators, board of directors and helpers contribute their work, knowledge and their good will. People and organizations who are helping to distribute the competition's information contribute with their physical and human infrastructure, contacts, followers, network and subscribers. The digital book will be published by Publicatuslibros.com. Likewise, we are looking for publishing companies from different countries to publish the book on their own, so that there is no currency exchange in any direction or involving the competition's organization at any level. In addition, we want all of the organizing members of the contest to work from a sense of conviction, and a desire to do their part towards building a different world, where living with dignity is a possibility for all. Nevertheless, our objectivs would be incomplete if we limited ourselves just to written expression. Because of this, we are not only a literary contest, but an internacional independent cultural organization with no financial interests, that searches for creation and encouragement of relfection and expression spaces towards pacifism. That way, within the contest, which is our central competition, we develop and support the development of cultural and/or social activities (no profit) that have pacifism for central theme, all over the world, in all possible languages. |
