In every time and place God has gathered His holy people together for the sake of hearing the voice of His Son, the Noble Shepherd, who laid down His life for His sheep on the cross. Martin Luther once wrote: "For, thank God, [today] a child seven years old knows what the Church is, namely, the holy believers and lambs who hear the voice of their Shepherd." Christ's voice is heard in the right preaching of His Word and in the faithful administration of the Holy Sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Holy Absolution. Through these the Holy Spirit "calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true Faith" (Small Catechism, Apostles' Creed, Article III). At Concordia Lutheran Church, the voice of the Good Shepherd sounds forth in Word and Sacrament every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and at other times during the course of the year. Without His voice to gather His beloved sheep, the sheep wander in darkness. Therefore we invite you to come to Concordia so that you too may hear the voice of Christ and follow it into the green pastures of heaven. |
