Two Truths and a Lie:
I have lived in three different countries.
I have a diamond on my tooth.
I watch tv.

CI 555--During the last seven weeks, I believe that the most important thing that i have learned is that technology is readily available and quite user friendly.  In the past,  I have felt that many programs (efolio) seem quite difficult to manage.  In fact, I have felt so threatened that I have not ventured out into the world of technology more than my requirements by my employer.  However, my vision has changed.  I believe that technology in the classroom is just beginning to spout---and Jack and the Beanstock are coming!  Specifically, I love screen-o-matic.  I think many people don't care to be seen on video.  I am motivated to get some conceptual ideas recorded and uploaded--so that students who were absent or need some extra help will have a one-on-one tutor session with the MEJOR PROFESORA DEL MUNDO!  I find that one-on-one time in my classroom help these students.  However, the time is the problem.  Small video segments are the answer to my time equation.  The second aha is google documents in general.  I am hoping to incorporate my new "clickers", the video segments, and google documents into my classroom before the end of the school year.

Welcome Miranda. I'm glad you're a Spanish teacher, because now I can ask you what the Spanish word for "Bumblebee" is. You don't have narcolepsy, do you?

Miranda,
I loved using the screencast as well. It is much eaiser to just hear your voice and not see yourself on the screen. It seems that many of our group really see a use for screencast in our classrooms. I am glad that I had the opportunity to use it and not feel overwhelmed with how to use it.

I appreciate reading about your attitude and perception of integrating technology tools with your instruction and student learning. I do believe your creative juices are flowing. Best wishes as you incorporate technology tools/software in supporting students learning. It will not be without technical difficulty. Yet, as we have learned through our course work, much is also learned when errors occur or do-overs are needed. You are on your way to being one of FHS’s techy gurus.

Miranda, well said. The technology really does seem much easier to use than previously thought! I also agree that the screen casts are really cool and like you said, a great way to give a student a one on one teaching session.

Henry Smits - Apr 28, 2010 10:48 AM

Miranda, a world of tech. is at your fingers now. The hard part is the planning. That is what we do best as teacher planning.
