This is my final reflection for the course CI555.

What skills, technologies, or insights have you learned in the class?  Can you use anything in your classroom?

After reading the required texts, articles, and applying what I have learned in the course CI555, I feel more confident in my understanding of Web 2.0 technologies.  I also feel that there are many ways that I can incorporatesomeof this technology in my daily classroom routines.

The most insightful portions of the class, for me, have been the hands on application of the Wiki Page, Efolio site, and the Adobe Connect Pro on-line class meeting.  These things were insightful because I have learned that using technology can be fun!  I feel that my technology skills using Web 2.0 technologies were limited.  Now I feel that I have gained knowledge in many areas.  I see now that patience, practice, and real life application were the things that I needed the most to make using technology useful for me.  I understand that I need to try new things, and change can positively impact my students and my teaching practices.

I feel that application of new technology in my classroom is essential.  I know that it will take learning on my part, but I am excited to use new and innovative ideas in my classroom.  I think that in the fall I would like to use a Wiki for student writing, and then progress into using a Wiki page for Math.  Smart boards are very popular in my building, and I would like to make use of this technology in my classroom as well.  Although these are small things to implement in my classroom, I feel that if I can start small I will continue to add new technologies and ideas in my classroom.

Welcome Courteney. I know I may slip and misspell your name at some point. I'm glad you are in this class. I'm thinking you don't enjoy being lazy?

Courteney Ivory - Mar 12, 2010 6:39 AM

Gee, how did you guess. I think being at home for close to two months has done this to me! I am normally very active in the exercise world so this lazy state is killing me! Glad to meet you too. It always amazes me how nervous I get to meet a new instructor and get the next class rolling. I feel more at ease having met you and to get the first night under our belts.

Courteney, I'm so glad to see you back in class. I'm glad that you're up and around some. I can't even imagine what these past several months have been like for you. I guessed that your lie was being in a lazy state too. Let me know how I can help.

Your efolio looks like you are well on your way! How does that not surprise me?! :) I know who to contact with any questions! Glad to have you back and I hope for you a speedy recovery!

Impressive screen cast Courteney. Fluent in the delivery and implementation of what I think is a tricky efilo program. Well done.

Kudos on a great Wiki page and e-Folio, Courteney! Very nicely put together. :)

You have your reflection done already? You are the student I need to sit next to more often to keep on task!

Courteney Ivory - Apr 15, 2010 7:34 AM

Oh Rebecca!!! Not being able to drive until last week has given me more time than you can imagine. I needed to do something to feel productive in my gimp state.

Miranda Gravley - Apr 25, 2010 11:47 AM

Courteney--I think alot of us were on the same page in the "technology" deptartment. We (except Henry--lol) wanted to try things but didn't know how to begin. The greatest think i heard in your reflection is that technology can be fun! That is definitely the attitude we need. Good luck incorporating the wiki into your classroom next year.

Kelly Hebzynski - Apr 26, 2010 6:53 PM

I love the part of your reflection where you said you learned you needed patience. I am still in the having patience stage and I couldn't agree with you more. I also agree with needing to just try new things. I think many people don't use technology because it can be kind of intimidating!

Erik Dietz - Apr 27, 2010 1:47 PM

Courteney, your reflection was really well written. I think you are right with the idea that technology is becoming essential. The implementation of technology in the classroom is also expected by our students with how fluent they are with various technologies. I also agree that it is nice to have a class that shows how easy it really is to navigate with the new tools.
