Present Employer: Connections Academy
Position: Teacher, Mathematics (Geometry at the moment)
Personal Blurb: My first teaching was with the Southdale YMCA as a swimming instructor when I was 17 years old. I really enjoyed working with young people and have continued to do so in some form or another. My first career was as an accounts manager for a software company based in Eden Prairie. I then worked for Minnesota Public Radio in technical support. I earned my teaching license at Metrostate through the Urban Teacher Program. I was a sub teacher in ISD 196 and ISD 194 for a few months. I joined Connections Academy in the fall of 2007. I really enjoy teaching math, and I'm somewhat of a calculator snob. I'm personally excited to see how internet / computer technologies slowly catch up to what teachers want and what students need to be successful.

Two truths and a lie:
I was first published at age 13
I have over 500 friends on facebook
I've met and spoke with Dr. Ruth Westheimer

I wasn't sure where to put this, but in case you're wondering what artifacts you'll gather for your eFolio, they are based on how you've demonstrated the following:

Six Outcomes of the Classroom Instruction Program

1. Exhibit strong communication (written, oral, listening) and critical thinking skills.

2. Provide high-level instructional leadership including supervision of educational curriculum and instruction congruent with historical and contemporary ideas in education.

3. Design classroom instruction that utilizes best practices in educational technology

4. Evaluate educational research for professional decision-making leading to improvement in student learning.

5. Design and implement educational solutions to issues stemming from the reality of multi-cultural, multi-linguistic, and multi-ability school populations.

6. Demonstrate awareness of professional, ethical, and legal responsibilities and rights of teachers, knowledge of school organizational structure, and the relationship with the social and philosophical foundations of education.

Anyone can comment on anything in this page. Maybe say, "hey, your kid's hair is parted funny" or you can guess which statement in the "Two Truths and a Lie" is false.

I am especially proud of the pine needle picture too. My husband, Mike, has several close up pictures of which he is very proud.

I would love to hear more about teaching at Connections Acadamy. I don't know a lot about on-line teaching. It sounds very interesting.

Thank you for the tutorial on how to add our powerpoints to the site for next week. It was extremely helpful and clear!

Was impressed with the online class day. It was the second one I participated in and have a much better opinion on the subject now. Thanks Andrew.

Thank you for helping us manage and add content to our e-Folio sites when we met at Eastview HS. I feel better having my e-Folio more established now! This should take the pressure off all of us when we begin our Capstone.

Andrew using Ann's demo on our wiki I removed from the attachment file the large sized pics of mine and created more manageable sized pics. I think that will help alot. pt
