Beginning during the 2008-2009 school year, Mr. Esquivel is Assistant Band Director and Jazz Band Director in the Music Department at Conant High School.
Carlos Esquivel graduated in the Fall of 2007 with a B.A. in Music Eduaction from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. At the University of Illinois, he has studied piano with Chi Yong Yu and Thomas Kronholz, as well as conducting with Dr. Joseph Manfredo and Dr. Louis Bergonzi. He has performed in various groups throughout his musical career, including several of the University of Illinois concert bands on both piano and alto saxophone, and the Marching Illini and Basketball Band at the U of I on alto saxophone. He has also performed as a pianist in musical theater productions with the Champaign/Urbana Theater Company, Illini Union Board, Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Illinois, and several high schools. He has been a pianist at Church of the Holy Spirit in Schaumburg, Illinois since 1999.
Mr. Esquivel was the beginning band director at St. Thomas Catholic School in Philo, IL during the 2006-2007 school year and interim band director at Liberty Junior High School in New Lenox, IL during the spring of 2008. He completed his student teaching at Glenbard North High School and Jay Stream Middle School in Carol Stream, IL during the fall semester of 2007.
