Scholarship Applications Now Available

2012 Conant Band Parent Club Scholarship Applications Now Available

One award of $500 will be awarded to a graduating member of the 2012 class.  Qualifications are detailed on the application which can be obtained from the Career Resource Center, Mr. Moorhouse, or printed from the attachment below.

Applications MUST be completed and returned to the CRC no later than Friday, April 20th.  NO late entries will be accepted

Oliver!

Consider yourself invited to the James B. Conant High School production of Oliver!  Under the Direction of Josh Nilsson, more than 125 students and faculty have joined over a four-month period to create the 2012 Conant production of Oliver!  One of the most beloved musicals of all time, the music, lyrics and book were written by Lionel Bart based on Charles Dickens’ tale of Oliver Twist. 

The great Pit Orchestra features many Band Members!   

The show opens on Friday, February 24, at the Conant Plate Auditorium.  Additional evening performances at 7 pm include:  Saturday, February 25, Friday, March 2, and Saturday, March 3. Tickets are $8 each for all shows  There will also be a Family Matinee with scenes suitable for all ages on Saturday, February 25 at 3 pm featuring a Special $25 Family 4-pack. 

 

Tickets may be reserved over the phone by calling 847-524-0991.  For more information, log on to ConantCougars.com.  From February 20 through February 23, the Box Office will be open from 6 pm to 8 pm located at West Entrance #5 of James B. Conant High School, 700 East Cougar Trail (off Plum Grove Road), Hoffman Estates, IL  60169.  Tickets will also be available for purchase ONE HOUR prior to each performance.  

Spiritwear Updates

Conant Band Spiritwear will be available on a pre-order basis again in the Fall of 2012.  There is a small supply of remaining 2011 spiritwear.  If you are interested in purchasing, please contact Kelly Day at jkeday@sbcglobal.net

2011-2012 Uniform and Spirit Wear Orders

Although it feels like summer has just begun, it's already time to start thinking about the 2011-2012 school year.  An information packet was mailed to all band students in June detailing marching and concert band uniform requirements and including an order form.  Details and the order form are also available here on the Conant Band website under Uniform Information.  There is also an opportunity to purchase spirit wear in advance.  Show your support for the Conant Band by ordering a t-shirt or sweatshirt for your student AND yourself!  Order forms and payment are due to Kelly Day by August 1.

Concert Band Uniform Return-May 24th and 25th

Please remember that concert band uniforms must be returned immediately following the concerts on Tuesday, May 24th and Wednesday, May 25th.  Volunteers will be standing by to assist the students.  Female students should wear shorts or something similar underneath their concert uniform skirts so they can simply remove them and turn them in. 

Senior Band Banquet

This year's Senior Band Banquet will be held at Gameworks in Schaumburg on May 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  Along with a delicious dinner, there will be open mic, and games of course!  Cost and other details are provided in the attached flyer.  RSVP is required no later than May 16th.  Please direct any questions to Joanne Zary at 847-923-4971 or sbme@comcast.net

DVD and Band Photo Order Forms Now Available

One of our Conant Band Parent Club Parents, Reggie Lithgow, has been busy following the Conant Band around all year, video camera in hand.  She has generously donated her time and talent to create a one of a kind video yearbook containing highlights of the 2010-2011 Conant Band.  If you would like to order a copy of the DVD which will be delivered to your home this summer, complete the attached order form and return it to Mr. Moorhouse with cash or a check made out to Conant Band Parents Club.  You may also use funds in your student account to pay for the DVD.  The cost is $10.  Reggie provided a sneak preview of the DVD at the April meeting and it's terrific!  There will be footage from football game performances, concerts, and behind the scenes action.  What a great keepsake-order yours today!
 
Reggie has also produced a 10 X 7 color photo of the 2010-2011 Conant Marching Band taken in the gym after the Fall marching band concert.  An order form for your copy of the photo is also attached.  Submit your order as soon as possible and you will be able to pick it up at the May concerts.  The cost is $5.

April Fundraiser with Home Sweet Home Products

During the month of April, Linda Gerlach's company, HomeSweetHomeProducts.com, will be running a fundraiser for the Conant Band.  Linda has 2 children in the band and she recognizes that raising funds to support all of the great band programs is an ongoing project.  Linda has generously offered to give 25% of the profits on sales from band families, relatives, and friends on her website, during April, to the band. 
All you have to do is visit the webstore and place an order.  There are approximately 3,000 items to choose from for your home and garden.  When you go to checkout, you will see a coupon box.  Type "CONANT BAND" in the coupon box.  This will flag the sale to Linda so she will know that sale is part of this fundraiser.

CBPC Scholarship Applications Now Available

The Conant Band Parents Club will award one $500 scholarship to an eligible graduating senior band student.  Completed applications should be dropped off at the Career Resource Center and will be accepted for review by the Scholarship Committee until Friday, April 15th.  The Scholarship Recipient will be notified by mail prior to the band concerts on May 24th/25th.  The application is attached here and printed copies may also be picked up in the CRC or from the Band Directors.  Please review application instructions carefully.  There will be no applications accepted after the April 15th deadline.  Contact Colleen Muff at 312-848-1094 or coljack@sbcglobal.net with any questions.
