This is the page that tells you about the participants which are currently registered in a division league type fast and fun tournament! 

 If there is any missing engine or if there are new engines that some authors want to include,feel free to mail me.Remember that I don't send it to anyone else without the permission of the authors.

These are currently betas that the authors of the following engines have sent them to me. or I have had deal with them,either giving them away as prizes or using it in tournaments or both.

 About the Tournament:

Time control: 1  minute + 1 seconds increment

Books: Engines use their own opening book,if the engine doesn't have any opening book, Arena GUI book is used

GUI: Arena 1.99 beta 4


Bugs:If the engine crashes or has severe bugs that makes it lose on time, the engine will be removed unless there is a new update within the start of the respective division

Participants:Freeware winboard and UCI engine, private engine betas can also be tested
some commercial engines

 TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS:

Learning = on and ponder = off

Double Round Robin tournament [about 240 games per division and 30 rounds for 1 engine]

Top 3 engines in particular division will be promoted to upper division in the next edition

Bottom 3 engines will be demoted to one division below the current one in the next edition

Updates are allowed during the tournaments if there is any beta or new engine entrant,send it to me before the end of the tournament.

The Waiting List:

The waiting lists for engines are only applicable to Division 1-7 Engines. 2 obvious reasons:

1. One or two Engine(s) to be put in the waiting list makes the prediction contest interesting and competitive.

2. Engines in waiting list usually do have a large database of games and they always finish in >10 ranking and stay at the same division.
Engines that got demoted wouldn't be added to the waiting list, they would be put in the one division below in the next edition whereas Engines in the waiting list don't get demoted but plays in the same division from next edition instead.

 

 Information:

In Edition 7: 3 Authors have agreed to the deql, Twisted Logic author Edsel Apostol, BugChess Author Francois Karr, and Cyrano Author Harald Johnson.

In Edition 6: PEdro Castro agreed about sending the new engine (Caligula) as prizes to the winners.

In Edition 5: The Prize will be either Kiwi Beta or Hamsters beta from Alessandro Scotti who has agreed to my deal.  

Edition 4:Michael Sherwin the author of Romichess has agreed to my deal about awarding the prediction winner with the Romichess beta tournament special edition.That means you have to participate in predicition contest in Talkchess in order to win, you will be awarded teh winner based on total number of points you get in predicition contest.  so kindly register your name with me in talkchess or by mail.

Difference between getting the beta directly from the author and winning the prediction contest is:

first, it is difficult to get the beta if you don't run few tests with the engine and send the author the engine's result,If you get it as a prize,You don't have to run tests on beta and send the results and games to the author but instead you can keep it to yourself and run some few games or play against the beta, Latest Romichess beta is much improved and is about 300 elo more than  official version.
