FOR THE KIDS... The Lighthouse Community Club is proud to be able to maintain our FALL FAIR policy of keeping everything FREE for children 13 and under. Free admission and then once on the grounds, all the games and activities are free. No nickle and diming mom and dad, no child left standing as a spectator because of lack of funds. So what do we have for the kids?
SPINNERS & WEAVERS The Qualicum Spinners and Weavers will have a display and demonstrations at the Lighthouse Fall Fair. Our display will include finished examples of various fiber arts techniques, spinning, weaving, knitting and felting all created by members of our guild. The spinners will be there with their wheels busy turning fleece and fiber into yarn. If that is too mechanized for you there will be demonstrations of the ancient drop spindle. This year we are bringing along a small harness loom so folks can try their hand at making “cloth”. The BOLTING BRASSICAS Live and direct from Lasqueti Island! "The Bolting Brassicas Marching Band are a diaphragm and forearm-powered aural enema packed with Balkan-klezmer-funkalicious (klez-bunk) power that'll purge your oomp-aah demons. Most of our songs are fast, except a couple of hand-on-heart numbers that'll have you blubbering into your vodka. Our speciality - causing audiences to sweat profusely in their formal wear. We're from Lasqueti Island, which is exactly like LA, except for the squeti and just about everything else. The band comprises 5% of the island's population, which makes music its second biggest export after massage therapy. We are a high-energy marching band that entertains all types of crowds."
