| Genres of Comics Have you read any comics before or do you read any regularly? What do you know about comics? What elements do most comics feature? Are certain elements necessary for a comic to be considered a comic? Are there certain types of characters, plots, settings, or styles that are common in comics? Do some research on different types of comics.
Take your goose and have a gander at various definitions and histories
of comics in order to expand your definition. Search online dictionaries, encyclopedias, wikipedia, and other information sources. Maybe take a look at this History of Comic Art. We'll be using the class wiki to organize and share our research. Generate a list of the different genres and formats of comics and the identifying characteristics and elements which are common in each. I have already created a page on the wiki for comics, so add your research to the comics page. If the information you wanted to post to the wiki is already there, don't worry! There is plenty of information on comics. Edit and add to what one of your classmates already posted. Create new pages for different genres or formats of comics, such as webcomics or graphic novels, and link those pages to where they are mentioned on the main comics page. The internet hosts lots of information on comics, so everyone will be able to find something to contribute to the wiki. Happy hunting! |
