So, you've been accepted to the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Congratulations! Now what? Chances are, the University sent you a request for the deposit ($200?), an immunization form, and some general information about financial aid and getting CPR training. Here's a check list:
- Send in your deposit (very important).
- Financial Aid Application:
- Fill out a FAFSA, with 004508 as the school code
- Fill out the University Application for Financial Aid and Verification worksheet, along with tax return(s).
- FAX the UAFA and VW to the Anschutz Financial Aid office. The worksheet tells you to fax to 303-735-6113, but when I called to check on things, I was told (by Carl Davis) to fax to 303-724-8048. You could probably mail it, but they would prefer fax. Whatever you do, double check by calling the financial aid office (the dental school staff is not responsible for this and will direct you to them).
- Once you receive your award statement, follow the directions to secure your loan. Colorado is on the Direct Lender program, so the University will be your lender for all government-sponsored loans.
- Get CPR training through some American Heart Association certified program and send a copy of your card to the dental school.
- Get your immunizations done and mail in your completed form.
- Have all of your transcripts sent to the school.
- Enroll in direct deposit for your loans.
- Buy your MacBook (but wait for instructions from school). Class of 2012 was required to buy 13" 2.4Ghz Macbook with Office 2008.
- Get your health insurance taken care of. You will be automatically enrolled in UCD's program if you do not submit a waiver. The waiver will only be acceptable if your insurance meets the schools requirements. You can also let the school know that you will take their health plan and speed up the process of getting your insurance going. There are two plans, A & B, with B having a high deductible and being cheaper.
- Get a parking permit (if necessary).
