Competitors can register on the Friday night at the front room of the Collie Shire Offices. From 4 to 7 pm.
Hi Marty,
I take it you can handle enquiries like this. I just want to know if wetsuits are allowed in the swim leg.
Yes, they are allowed. Water temp will probably be cool as we still haven't had any sun yet. It usually warms up in the week or two before the event. I was wondering if you could please clarify a couple of points for me and my team for the Collie Marathon.
Firstly: I understand that it starts at 9am – what time is registration and does every team member need to be on course for registration and start of the race? EG: those that are doing the later legs, can they arrive later in the day or do they need to be there from the beginning??
Secondly: If we do not have a horse rider does the canoe leg follow directly from when our road rider completes their section or does the canoe person wait until the horse section is finished?? Do you have approx times that the canoe leg would start?
The race starts at 9am sharp, so you need to be there earlier, about 8am. The canoeist starts as soon as the cyclist finishes if you don't have a horse. The bike ride would take just under an hour for a fast rider. You don't really need to have the full team present to register.
Your rules state that horses must be shod on all 4 feet. I would like to request an exemption from this requirement, subject if necessary to sighting of his endurance logbook and a veterinary examination of his feet to confirm his barefoot status. This year the horse has successfully completed, barefoot, 3x80km enduarnce rides, a 3-day 120km marathon and 4x40-50km rides, in addition to his training for these events.
We've recently changed the rule to a recommendation to reflect changes in endurance riding. Obviously our main concern is that the horse is looked after.
I registered our team ages ago and we’re yet to receive any info/race pack. This is the first year we’ve done the Collie so we’re keen to get the info. Can you please advise? J
