Forestry professor dies pursuing his passion

UK forestry professor Dave Maehr was a man of "unwavering commitment" to conserving natural environments and animals, such as the black bear. Maehr, 52, was working on a project to save a bear population in Florida when he died last week in a plane crash.

Just in case you missed it, UK President Lee Todd will be receiving a $145,500 bonus this year. Yes, that number is nearly half of his annual base salary of $304,010 - the man just increased his 2007-08 income by 50 percent. Is this a bit outrageous? Simply put, yes.

Ohio universities create common report

In early June, Miami University joined 12 other universities in posting cost and performance measures online for potential students and university administrations to peruse.
The move was coordinated through the University System of Ohio, a network of public colleges in the state established as part of Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric Fingerhut's higher education plan.
Tuition set for West Chester MBA program

Miami University is making progress in developing its professional MBA program at the newly built West Chester Voice of America (VOA) Learning Center.
The Board of Trustees approved a tuition structure of $750 per credit hour at the June 20 meeting.
Brad Bays, director of the MBA program, said a degree would end up costing around $27,000 for the two-year program.

Three Miami University students are set to compete in U.S. Olympic Swimming Team Trials June 29-July 6 in Omaha, Nebr.
Sophomore Karen Frazier qualified at the Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational with a personal best time of 1:12.
