Campsites

Camping Sites:

We have seven sites available to book for activities in the day time or for camping on. Please note that we have a new ruling that only on sites 1, 4, 6 and 7  can an open fire be lit and they must be in the designated areas and using the appropriate resources such as altar fires and our constructed cooking areas.

Site 1:

Site 1

Site 1 is ideal for Green Field camping with a small wooden copse adjacent that can have bivouacs built in. It is a little further away from the main facilities on site so is more remote. This is also our largest site.

This site is one of four sites that you can have a fire on in the designated area. We have two bricks barbecues and two floor areas for fires or altar fires. A chopping log is also on this site. Recently a second fire area has been set up so when the site is split, both sites have a fire area.

At the far end of site 1 there are  eight timber poles at the far end of the site which can be used for building shelters, stretching hammocks across etc. They are configured in a circle.

Site 1 is ideal for a large group or can be split into two sites.

Site 2:

Site 2

Site 2 is usually  just for Explorers, Network, Fellowship and other Leaders as this is adjacent to a deep part of the river.

There are no altar fires, ground fires or pits permitted on this site. It is strictly cooking with gas or petrol stoves.

Site 3:

Site 3 penthouse

NEW Site 3 is a new site that has just been landscaped ready for late summer 2010. This is the Penthouse of campsites - it is high up with amazing elevated views, away from the road and above other campers.

It has been developed for hike tents for use throughout the year. With its elevated position and superb drainage it is an all weather grass pitch with shallow grass and stoney base. It is pure pure bliss to be up there as it is adjacent to our Tranquillity Zone. I am sure you will find one of the wardens up there enjoying the views.

Suitable for Scout, Explorer, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions/hikes etc.

A water tap is on site. This is just a gas/petrol cooking site only - no open fires or altar fires permitted.

 Site 4:

Site 4

Site 4 is a popular site for Cubs and Scouts. It is also adjacent to the main arena and nearest to the Rendle Hut.

It is one of four sites that can have a fire on it in the designated area. This site has a place for a floor fire so great for a Dutch oven. There is also a brick barbecue on this site and a fresh water tap.

Site 5:

SIte 5

Site 5
is our second to smallest site best suited for Scouts, Explorers, Network or other leaders. It is also adjacent to the main arena and the River Yeo.

This site is nicely tucked away from the other campers, even though it is next to the arena and site 4. It is screened by trees and bushes.

Site 6:

Site 6

Site 6 is the nearest to the toilet block and suitable for all ages. It is also adjacent to the main arena. This has a designated fire area where altar fires can be used and are supplied. There is also a chopping log situated on the site.
A water tap is also on site 6 for site 6 campers

Site 7:

Site 7

Site 7 is our second largest site. It is second nearest to the toilet block with woods adjacent. This has a designated fire area where altar fires can be used. There is also a chopping log situated on the site.

A water tap is also on site 7 for site 7 campers.

Emergency Site (old site 3):

Emergency Site

OLD Site 3 is kept as an emergency site.

This is a communal area for all users of the site to either sit, picnic or build a pioneering project on - see pictures below

SURVIVAL STYLE CAMPING:

We do also have other areas available for survival style camping. Please ask for details.

All sites do have the River Yeo running adjacent to them, except site 3.
