An ad-free tribute to one of sports entertainment's greatest performers.

Brian Pillman was an incredibly talented athlete and performer.

He was best known in the world of professional wrestling during the 1990s, and prior to that he enjoyed a successful American Football career.

Brian overcame many challenges in his life and work and thrilled fans with electrifying, high risk performances. He also elevated the concept of a pro wrestling "character" to new heights - blurring the line between fantasy and reality and giving the industry some of its most creative moments.

A DVD and book about his life and achievements are available.

I enjoyed watching Brian perform, particularly when he joined WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) in 1996. His performances had an edge that no-one else could match at the time, and in my opinion no-one has come close to since. As a viewer, I was rooted to the spot whenever I saw him, wondering what would happen next. He had an edge. A charisma. A maniacal energy. A talent most often seen in the top movie stars, combined with amazing athletic prowess.

Like they say, the brightest stars burn out quickest.

I also greatly admired Brian because I knew how hard he'd have to work to overcome the challenges he faced; including health problems from an early age and lack of height compared to other wrestlers. He'd been told "you can't do that.." time and time again and every time, he dug deep, put in the work and made these people eat their words. Brian Pillman didn't simply reach the top and become as good as everyone else, he excelled and took his chosen art to a new high, forcing everyone else to raise their game to keep up with him!

I find him an inspiration in my own life and I'm sure he is to many other people around the world as well.
