A CONCEPT FOR A EUROPEAN ARENA OF INTEGRATIVE DIALOGUE

Introducing a critical stance. While we see truly honorable organizations like World Economic Forum and the Nobel Foundation with due respect to their excellent contribution to global awareness (to the national trademark of Sweden), and to shared goals. Our vision and intention, however, is essentially different: while we prefer to revise Foreign Policy into our own list of the most influential leaders, another relevant dimension is represented by The Edge Foundation Inc, a global "Third culture" think-tank for intellectual inquiry. With a determined focus on the processes of competence integration, the drivers of value conversion are the roots of creative innovation. Our model is based on researching the acts and intentions inherent to a cognitive framework of metainterpretation, while our comprehensive fourpart model for value processes derives from observations of history, ideas, reality and visions of the future. We imagine society unfolding through history on the foundation of fundamental 'cultural root values'. These values are both epistemically inherent to the knowledge of the subject matter and essential in the search of building blocks for the application of useful competence to public policy, private philanthropy, and commercial business. These basic ideas emerged from often informal dialogues with outstanding leaders in a number of different fields and disciplines during decades, from our primitive outlines, including Collegium Europaeum (from our early homepage), to a more elaborated and broadly anchored conceptuality in response to severely challenging conditions in our present world. While far from surrendering to the illusion that arts and sciences separately can solve imminent societal problems, we feel confident that urgent solutions require a solid ground of human values at the very intersection between the truth of external reality (as corroborated by reliable scientific methodology) and the insight of a reflecting self (as provided by phenomena in the arts and the aesthetic realms of interhuman experience). Early cross-disciplinary talks that inspired us were held on invitation by Hannes Alfvén, UC La Jolla (1983), and Philip Sandblom, Lausanne (1989). The concept profited from dialogues with Nobel Laureates, inter alia Werner Arber, Richard Ernst and Brian D Josephson, who promoted inter- and transdisciplinarity at the Nobel Foundation Centenary celebration, Grand Hotel in Stockholm, in 2001 (as documented in Noble Afterthoughts: *). Another outline is available at Collegium Europaeum for Transdisciplinary Dialogue - a proposal to European Commission. We matinain our attentive observation of the ideas provided by Open Society Institute (OSI).

A CRITICAL EYE ON REALITY AND SOCIOEPISTEMOLOGY IN PRACTICE

AreScope (blog discontinued) and Arescope - arenas for societal and cultural critique - political issues such as the need for reinforcing protection of civil and human rights of rare but valuable and contributing minorities including the intellectual and artistic elite in Western Europe.

The AreScope is an integration instrument to spot the confluence of trends, critically evaluate current events and comment on policies for the future of our knowledge society. The key focus is on how Nordic values best can help building a European identity by inviting you to a transdisciplinary dialogue.
