Water, Power, Internet

Water

There is clean running water in all three houses. We get our water from rainwater collection off the roof of the Hill House. The water is stored in plastic tanks with (currently) a capacity of about 900 gallons. We can easily add more tanks if it becomes necessary. If it doesn't rain for a while, it's important to conserve water; worst case, there is a well we can use for washing and bucket showers. The rainwater is usually drinkable; however, people who are sensitive and/or only staying for a few days should probably purify the water. We have a UV purifier for that purpose.

Electricity

We have a small off grid power system with an inverter/charger, battery bank, solar panels, and generator.

Electricity comes from Solar Panels (1100W) and is stored in deep cycle batteries. We also have a generator; when the generator runs, it charges the batteries quite rapidly.

We still need to build a new generator shed and get more batteries. We may add some more solar panels, too.

Internet

The Internet connection comes from Almirante - 256 kbit, $60/month. We can upgrade to 512kbit for $20 more per month.  There is wifi at the Hill House and also at the house on the water.

Refrigeration

We have propane-powered fridges in the house on the water and on the hill. It really makes more sense than solar right now. Hopefully that will change soon.

The fridges have a freezer compartment, too.
