A mission statement lets us all know who we are and what we are about.

At Cockrum United Methodist Church, we believe it is our responsibility
as a Christian church to bring all people to Jesus and to love, care,
teach and develop them to Christian maturity.

 
 
Our Mission scriptures are:
 
Heb.13:1&2 "Keep on loving each other as brothers. Do not forget to entertain
strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it."

1 Pet.1:22 "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the Truth so that you
have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart."
 
 
 
 

We believe these core values to be non-negotiable:

  •  The Lord God is the one and only true God, first in the trinity.
  • Jesus is God's one and only son.  Jesus was crucified, and resurrected for the salvation of all people.  There is no other way to get to heaven except through the saving grace of Jesus, who is the second in the trinity.
  • The Holy Spirit is the third in the trinity and abides within all who know Jesus as Savior and Lord.
  • All people are sinners and in need of salvation.
  • The Bible is God's Holy and Living Word.  It is the ultimate authority on all matters.  Its every word is of God, by God, and therefore every word is Truth.
  • Though we do not deserve it, God extends to us His grace and mercy by which we may know Agape (sacrificial) Love.
  • At Cockrum UMC, we will love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind.  We will sacrificially love our neighbors as ourselves.
