Coatesville Garden

Ramble 2010

Sunday 7th November

10.00am to 4.00pm

Indulge yourself with a day in the country, visiting and enjoying the peace and tranquility of five park-like gardens in beautiful Coatesville.  See five gardens which have been created by the love, care and hard work of keen gardeners.  The gardens will all be at their best early summer/late spring splendour, and will not disappoint both gardeners or those who simply enjoy beautiful surroundings.

Thanks to the generous support of our benefactors, these magnificent Gardens will be open to the Public.  Most have been recognized by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture as being of Significance or National Significance to New Zealand.

The gardens which will be open for inspection on the Garden Ramble are:

Brookgreen Park
15 Goldflats Road
Coatesville

Rated as a garden of significance, this is a formal garden in a park like setting with a small lake and Monet style bridge complimenting the formality of clipped gardens and shaped laurels. Many focal points including gazebos, fountains and rose gardens.

Mincher
338 Coatesville Riverhead Highway
Coatesville
A delightful garden surrounding a Georgian style residence, set against a backdrop of lush native bush, home to birds and waterfowl, consisting of formal and informal planting, old orchards, ponds, a walled kitchen garden and Victorian inspired glass houses - Rated as a Garden of National Significance.

Pinelee
21 Coatesville Heights
Coatesville
Appropriately named, this is a country garden surrounded by tall Pinaster Pines, consisting of plantings of Trees and Shrubs from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. This unusual mix of planting provides colour and interest in all seasons against a border of stately Pines.

Twin Lakes
83 Sunnyside Road
Coatesville
A magnificently landscaped garden with extensive and attractive planting, centred on a large lake with water lillies, ducks and swans. Ostriches are farmed here and there is also an aviary with exotic caged birds for viewing. Rated as a Garden of Significance.

Woodbridge
36 Glenmore Road
Coatesville
From bare farmland, this gently contoured land has been transformed into a very special large country garden with lovely country vistas. Two streams flow through lush plantings overlooked by a rose covered summer house. There are also intensively planted perennial gardens of rare and unusual plants, a croquet lawn, a potager, a bluebell wood, a dry garden, and much more.
