Also, the position of Coastline Editor is now part time and this blog may not be updated as often as before. Most of the guidelines listed below are still applicable to sending in your news, announcements, and photographs. Although, the deadline for the e-newsletter is each Tuesday at noon! AROUND THE DIOCESE (formerly THE COASTLINE) is the official "newspaper" of the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast and is published nine times per year. Contributors include clergy, the Bishop, the editor, and many laypersons from the 62 parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Deadline: Noon each Tuesday for next day e-news. Ideally, articles and digital photos should be emailed to coastline@diocgc.org. Many submissions, however, are mailed via the post office and with a scanner and computer, the photos usually have fair to good quality and can be used in the paper. "Call ins" for announcements, are accepted. (All contact info is below).
Announcements/Events: Include DATE of the event, EVENT NAME, TIME, and several sentences about your event. If it is a fundraiser, please mention where the proceeds will go. Be sure to include a phone number and/or an email address "for more information." Articles: Just write everything you wish to say in your article. If it needs editing for space reasons, the main ideas will be published. However, the entire article will be published online. If a good photo accompanies the article, the greater possibility of the article being published. (Although I understand that not all articles need a photo - reports, for example. ) If you have several photos accompanying the story, pick the best ones that tell the story and I'll put a slideshow online along with the story. Photos: If you are using a digital camera, please send them to me as a .jpeg or .jpg. If you have an online album email the link to me. However, I may need the original but I'll let you know, if so. If you have regular prints, that's fine. Just mail them to me: 407 Church Ave., Daphne, AL 36526 On the back of the photo, tell me what the photo is about (event, etc.) and if people are in it, please write their names L - R. If you want the photos back, write a little note to me and I'll mail them back. ; ) Your newsletter: Please put me on your church mailing list for your newsletter. One of the first things to know is that you really do not have to spend much money for the most part. There are free virus scans for your computer, free website pages (like this one) you can use and access, and plenty of other services that simply do not cost much, if any, money.
