Monday, February 1, 2010, City of Angels School will host the monthy meetings of the Professional Development Committee (8:30 am), PTSA and Gifted Advisory Council (9:15 am), School Site Council (10:00 am), and Local School Leadership Council/SDM (11:15 am). Even if you are not a member of these groups, youa re welcome to attend the meetings. PTSA and Gate Advisory Council will be electing officers. The English Learners Advisory Council (ELAC) will meet on February 19 at the East LA Site. You are also welcome to attend this meeting even if you are not a member.

We will have our January meeting of the COAS School Site Council and the Local School Leadership Team one week later on January 11, 2010, because of the holidays. Both meetings are public meetings and there is an opportunity for public comment during each meeting. School Site Council will meet at 10 am and Local School Leadership Team at 12:30. both meetings run about 90 minutes and will meet in the Conference Room at our City of Angels School Offices, San Julian Site.

We will have our first meeting of the Gifted and Talent Parents to form our Gifted and Talent Parents Advisory Council on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 8:30 am just before the PTSA meeting. If your child is identified as gifted or talented, please plan on attending. I hope to see you there!

Our new Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) will meet on Monday, January 11, 2010 at 9 am at our City opf Angels San Julian offices at 1449 South San Pedro. All members and non-members are invited to the meeting (you can join at the meeting). We will be electing officers and discuss PTSA plans for the year. Hope to see you there!

December 22 is Coffee with the Principal AND English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Elections! Do not miss the fourth Coffee with the Principal and this very important election!
- Coffee with the Principal is a chance for our parents and community members to speak with the COAS principal, and often assistant principal and counselor, about what is happening with COAS, you students, and LAUSD in general in an informal forum.
- ELAC is the council that meets each month and advises the School Site Council on matters related to educating our English Learners. Your input is needed and appreciated! You must be a parent of an English Learner to run for the council which must have a minimum of 5 parents.

City of Angels School will have a faculty meeting on Monday, December 14, 2009 from 1:00-1:30 pm followed by the Committee Meetings from 1:30-3:00 pm. At 3 pm there will be an optional session to assist staff who still need to complete the mandated LAUSD Child Abuse Awareness Training. | |

Our School Site Council and Parent Teacher Student Association NEEDS YOU!
Don't miss the orientation for School Site Council Parent Elections on Monday, November 23, at 3 pm at our main San Julian Offices. At the orientation, LAUSD staff will present information about the upcoming elections for parent members of the School Site Council (Dec. 7). Also, don't forget to come to the election meeting on December 7, 2009 at 2 pm at the main City of Angels Offices.
