The science department would like to invite all 7th & 8th grader's
parents to an informational meeting about the Catalina Island Marine
Institute (CIMI) trip that the Science Department has sponsored for the
last couple of decades. The meeting will be on Wednesday, December 7th @ 7PM in the
Cross MPR. Criteria to attend the trip will be outlined, as well as
information about the application process and pictures from past
trips. You may access the criteria and information about the
application below. Your child can pick up an application from room 406 or from their
science teacher. Applications are due on Friday, December 16th, 2011. Because in recent years we have not received enough applications to fill all 84 spots right away, we extend the application process until all 84 spots are filled. Science teachers screen applicants for the minimum grade point average and then pass the paperwork on to the office where applications are screened for Ds & Fs, Ns or Us and disciplinary issues. Students will be informed that they have met the criteria and have will be added to the list beginning on January 6th, 2012. A list of selected students will be posted in each teacher's classroom. A parent meeting for the selected students and their parents will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the MPR at 7:00 PM. A slide show presentation and information about the forms and payment will be shown. The deadline
for payment is February 10, 2012. The cost in the past has been
approximately $360, however, because not all travel arrangements have
been finalized, the cost could change slightly. We will leave from the Cross campus on Tuesday, February 28th at 8:30 PM and return on Saturday, March 3rd at 2 AM. If you have any questions about this wonderful opportunity that our students have to learn about marine ecology out in the field, please contact me at 696-5971 or email me at dfife@amphi.com. |
