THE DAILY 5

The children in my class participate in The Daily 5.  “The Sisters,” Gail Boushey & Joan Moser, designed this literacy framework.  The Daily 5 allows the children to be independently engaged in quality reading and writing activities while I am free to complete assessments, hold guided reading groups, and work with small groups on focus lessons.  The Daily 5 is a student-driven management structure, designed to fully engage children in reading and writing. The Daily 5 consists of …

•    Read to Self
•    Read to Someone
•    Listen to Reading
•    Work on Writing
•    Work on Word Work
