A photograph of myself

I am a failed astronomer turned software engineer. I now work for some big internet company in Silicon Valley. Previously, I spent ten years doing research in X-ray astronomy, first in an experiment called the High Energy Focusing Telescope (HEFT), then with the XMM-Newton X-ray observatory. I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and have since lived in British Columbia, Massachusetts, Southern California and the suburb of Paris for over half of my life.

On 2007- 5-24, I presented the third Everhart Lecture of 2007 at the California Institute of Technology. The presentation was videotaped, and is now streaming online at the Caltech Streaming Theatre (realplayer required to view).
