Paternity

Paternity
What is DNA Paternity Testing and how does it work?

Every person (with the exception of identical twins)
has a unique genitic code identified by DNA (DeoxyriboNucleic Acid) found in each cell in the body. Genes come in different forms and sizes and are referred to as "alleles". For each gene location, every person has two different sized alleles, one inherited from the mother, and one inherited from the biological father.

Exclusion

When the alleged father's allele sizes do NOT match the child's on at least theree different genes, the paternity test proves conclusively that the tested man is NOT the biological father of the child. In such cases, the probability of paternity is 0%, and we are 100% certain that the man is not the child's biological father.

Inclusion

When the tested man's alleles match all of the child's genes, the probability of paternity is determined. The average probability of paternity is greater than 99.99999%.

There are a wide variety of reasons to have DNA paternity test done. Adults sometimes want to find out, or confirm, who are their biological parents or children purely for the knowledge of their genetic heredity, and, they do not intend to use their DNA test results as legal evidence in the court of law. In such cases, we can provide you with a home DNA test kit. This kit contains all the needed specimen collection materials, DNA test consent forms, detailed instructions for specimen collection procedures, and return packaging materials that allow you to ship the collected specimen back to the laboratory for testing.
