- Project manager for the Terre Haute, IN new Avaya IP Office Phone
System with Voicemail Pro and Automatic Call Distribution (parts distribution
office). 110 Extensions. Hardware, Training and Programming – Total project
$83,000.
- Provided technical network support for AS400
upgrade and consolidation between the two division offices, nine manufacturing
plants and twenty eight sales branches.
- Project leader for implementation of WAN T1
frame relay between Division office and plants. Increased communication speed,
reliability and provide remote access troubleshooting to plants.
- Project manager for installation of new LAN
(CAT 6 wiring) and electronics at the Chicago, IL office and Kewanee, IL
manufacturing plant. Total project $105,000. Provided a reliable network.
- Project manager to upgrade the Greenville, MS
plant’s phone system to Nortel 0x32 and installed a new network (voice and data
cables). 41 Extensions. Hardware, Training and Programming, – Total project
$22,000. Voicemail and system upgrades were added five years later- $5,000.
- Project leader to upgrade the Nortel 8x24
phone system to Nortel 0x32 (and voicemail) with least cost routing (over T-1).
Cost savings of $15,000 by re-using existing phones.
- Built Sony PC video conferencing system for
Division Headquarters – Chicago, IL. and Savannah, GA. Cost savings from
airplane trips between division headquarters – Total Project $12,000.
- Installation of Shiva Remote Access network
Dial-In service. This reduced 1Mb file transfer time from 40 minutes to 8
minutes. Later, this also served as backup for T-1 circuit outage.
Plant Startups
- Project manager to integrate new plant
Huntsville, TN (idle), 320,000 Sq Ft, into the company’s computer and
communications infrastructure. This included locating and qualifying local vendors;
testing existing LAN (copper and fiber); removal of old wiring; installation of
new wiring, switches (HP ProCurve 2524), router (Cisco 1760) and fiber
electronics; built a Windows server for local authentication, file services,
e-mail and backups; built 20 new desktop computers for 20 users; installation
of Nortel 0x32 phone system with voicemail (from Chicago, IL office) 38
extensions; installation of new paging system; and provided user training. The
startup budget was $218,500. Completed the startup within time frame for
$123,000. Cost savings of $95,500 by using local workers versus paying for
workers travel and hotel.
- Project manager to integrate new plant
Jonesboro, AR (idle), 224,000 Sq Ft, into the company’s computer and
communications infrastructure. This included locating and qualifying local
vendors; testing the LAN (copper and fiber); installing router (Cisco 1750);
built a Windows server for local authentication, file services, e-mail and
backups; rebuilt 20 existing desktop computers for 24 users; test existing
phone and paging systems; and provided user training. The startup budget was
$75,000. Completed the startup within time frame for $48,000. Cost savings of
$27,000, by rebuilding and upgrading existing equipment.
- Project leader to integrate new plant
Danville, PA (active), 162,000 Sq Ft, into the company’s computer and
communications infrastructure. This included testing the LAN (copper and
fiber), phone system, paging system, reconfiguring the existing servers and 26
desktop computers (28 users), and provided user training. There was no manufacturing
downtime. The startup budget was $50,000. Completed startup within time frame
for $31,000 – cost savings of $19,000 by testing and upgrading existing
equipment.
