How to Critique Web sites, References, Research (helpful for AVMA Competency 9:  Appreciation for the role of research):

  • Evaluating web sites (Purdue University)- discusses the ABC's of evaluating websites - authority/accuracy, balance/bias, and currency/coverage/content

First Year Students:

Sign up for VIN, the Veterinary Information Network.  Accounts are free.  Must supply your .edu email address.  VIN is 41,000 member community as of Summer 2009.  About 10,000 are veterinary students: this has implications for message board posts.  Close to 100% of UT CVM veterinary students have accounts on VIN.

The AAHA Associate's Survival Guide at SF756.4.V4 2005 includes resumes, cover letters, interviewing, negotiation, compensation, employment contracts.  Check out one of the Library's five copies when you begin to look for a job.  More employment assistance is available.
