Flip Cameras

A Flip video camera is a quick and efficient way to document learning.  You can film a student solving or explaining how they solved a math problem and post it online for student to review at home.  Also, you could record a brief reading assessment once each month.  This would give one an extremely accurate overview of the student’s yearly progress- not to mention the great end-of-year gift it could make for parents!  Flip makes it so easy to film reader’s theater activities, science experiments, songs, and more.  Model a “think aloud” for your students and post it online for students and parents to view on demand.   You can imagine the possibilities.  These are cheap.  Every classroom should have one.

Cheap Document Camera

Document cameras can serve many purposes, but for such an expensive piece of equipment, they are limited.  Most digital cameras can do what you need.  You just need access to a projector/TV, a cheap tripod, the camera, and the RCA video out cord (shown below) that comes with the camera!

Looky Book-  Full books available online!  This site would be great for guided reading lessons with a projector.  Ask Matt C. and check one out today!

Literactive-  "Literactive is the leading provider of reading material for pre-school, kindergarten and grade 1 students available online."

Starfall-  "Primarily designed for first grade, Starfall is also useful for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and second grade."

Google Earth Lit Trips-  I am anxious to try one of these out with a small group.  Any takers?
