Magnus Carlsen has won!
 
 Scoring 8.5 out of 13. 
 
 
Shirov and Kramnik both tied for 2nd Place with 8 points.
 
(Shirov actually accepted a draw from his last round opponent, Dominguez, even though he had a winning position).  I suspect that they both were in great time pressure.  Anyway, I'm glad that Magnus won.  He is a gentleman at the board and a good example of what it means to be a good sport.
 
By the way, Wesley So finished with 7.5 points to tie for fourth place in Group B.  While in Group C, Ray Robson also ended up with 7.5 to tie for fifth in his section.  There were many exciting games and you may check out the official site at... 
 
 
 
 
 
The Boy Wonder is #1
 
    Magnus Carlsen (age 19) is officially rated 2810 which places him at the top of the list of all grandmasters in the world.  This month he will play at the Corus chess tournament in the Netherlands at Wijk Aan Zee -  January 15-31.
 
This is a very strong event and always produces some exciting games.  Keep an eye 0n Magnus, he's from Norway and is going to be around for a long time!

      Wesley,  16 years old,  is from the Philippines and currently rated 2656.   Last year he won 1st place in Group C.    This year he is playing in Group B.
