Making an Application

Please download the application form by clicking here, and send the completed form to the Clerk with your booklist and personal churchmanship statement.

Candidates may choose titles from the Church House Bookshop list at www.chbookshop.co.uk. For each book or set of books please state the author, title, ISBN, and list price. Alternatively they may request books from other suppliers, in which case they may be asked to purchase the approved titles themselves and be reimbursed on submission of receipts.

Ordinands must supply the names of two persons who have agreed to provide references:
  • one should be a member of staff of the college or course, who should report on the candidate’s academic ability and diligence;
  • the other should come from a parish priest or chaplain, and should report on matters of churchmanship and spiritual life.
Candidates must ask their referees to write directly to the Clerk. The Clerk will not contact referees to solicit references.

Applications are considered four times a year. The cut-off dates for receipt of applications and references in 2012 are:

Monday 9 January, 16 April, 2 July and 17 September

The Trustees are not required to give reasons for refusing to make a grant to any applicant, and the Clerk will not enter into any correspondence about this.
