Duke's List

This list contains people that I have personally used and highly recommend.    They made it on this page because they do good work for a fair price.

Indianapolis Area

Flooring and Tile
  • Matt Gallimore (317) 557-8923.   Wood floors, tile floors, tiling for walk-in showers.
Construction and Remodeling
  • Jeff Riffey and his brothers Dennis and Chuck, (765) 778-2200.    These brothers do tear down, remodels (including plumbing, electric, and HVAC), doors, hardie siding, roofing, trim, and general construction.  The plus about these guys are they are honest and can do everything (and have to my house).
Trim
  • John Baas, (765) 667-3975.    John installed window and door trim, crown, baseboard, doors, and made some fireplace mantles.   He does much more than that.   He makes perfect cuts.
  • Eli Flora, Signature Carpentry, sigcarp.com, (765) 606-6009.    Installed a door and some trim.  Absolutely wonderful job.
  • Cox Interiors in Westfield, (317) 896-2227, is a good place to buy trim.
Kitchen and Bathroom Cabinets
  • Russell at Madison County Cabinets, (765) 778-4646 .  Outstanding custom cabinets at a fair price.   They did our kitchen cabinets and then came back and did bathroom cabinets.
Painting
  • Rich Karst, (317) 877-1744.   Teacher by trade, painter (inside and outside) during off hours.  Does the work himself with fellow teachers.
Painting/Drywall
  • Patrick Ramsey, (317) 400-3825.   One man shop who will does a pretty good job at very reasonable rates.   I paid him more than what he asked.
Tree Trimming
  • Matt Smith, (317) 525-4395.   From Lapel and his company is Magnolia Arbor.   For my job he went very high in a few trees and did a great job.
Bicycle Repair
  • Larry Driver, the Recycle Shop, (317) 773-5196.   About half the cost of a bike shop for repairs, and carries new and used bikes and supplies.
Towing
  • Jeff, (317) 333-3050.   A tow was about $35 if I remember right.   Now he charges more, but still reasonable.  $40 plus miles.
Photography
  • Brian and Morgan, Moa and B Photography (www.moaandb.com).   Awesome husband and wife team.  They were "invisible" at the wedding.   They made a nice slide show of the rehersal and wedding (http://moaandb.com/#/jessandderek/).    They put the pictures on a web site for easy viewing and purchasing, and most importantly to me, give you all the pictures on a DVD with a copyright release (so basically you have all the pictures to do with what you want such as make hard copies, email them,....).    Update:  Brian and Morgan have moved to San Diego, but do travel if necessary.
Catering
  • Theresa Hodge, 317-459-4373 (Cell), 317-773-9416 (Home).    Theresa will organize and serve your food, a restaurants food, or make the food.   In our case she did a mixture.  We had food from two restaurants (Yats and BWW), our supplies for an ice cream bar, and she made the food for an outstanding nacho bar.    Her hourly rate and food costs were very reasonable.
Music
  • EJ the DJ, (812) 212-2249.  Need music?  EJ did my daughter's wedding.
