Pipe Major Biography

P/M Bill Wiggins, a Highland Bagpiper, is based in Jacksonville Florida, and is committed to playing the finest in traditional Scottish and Irish pipe music for private and public audiences.

    Bill has played the highland pipes since 1996, and played percussion for many years before that. He has membership in both the EUSPBA (Eastern United States Pipe Band Association) and SUSPBA (Southern United States Pipe Band Association), as well as membership in The Arts Council of Jacksonville, Florida. He maintains an active performance schedule, and participates in Highland Games throughout the southeast, competing in both band and in solo competitions.

    Bill holds the rank of Captain in the US Army (Reserves); he is currently deployed with the 47th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq as a Registered Nurse, and will be returning to the band soon. Prior to his deployment, he played pipes several times a week at The Lodge Golf and Country Club on Sea Island, Georgia, and has appeared in Water’s Edge magazine, Golf Digest magazine and in a TBS special program featuring the musicians and islands of Georgia’s Golden Isles. 

    Bill invites all who has an interest in learning and playing pipe and drum music to come and join in with the Clay County Sheriff’s Pipe and Drum Corps
