Valdes Peninsula, Patagonia

Chapter Two

Kahu has never forgotten her magical experiences with the whales.  She wants to use her new leadership role to protect and honor the whales of her people, but she needs to learn as much as she can about them first!  Kahu needs your help to research the whales so that she can help ensure their safety.    Work with your team of researchers to find the answers she is looking for.  Time's running out!

You must prepare a presentation with your group based upon your findings.
  • All group members must contribute.
  • Your presentation must include multiple forms of communication.  Options include:  visual, auditory, tactile, or anything else you can think of!
  • You do not need to use information from every link given.  Choose what excites you.  However, make sure that your presentation has good information!

This is meant to explore environmental, social, and visual literacy.

  • Environmental:  students study whales in depth and  learn how they are affected by the choices we make.
  • Social:  students must work together as a group to meet goals and create a coherent project.
  • Visual literacy:  students must  interpret and generate meaning from both textual and visual resources.
