Celebrate Literacy: A Student Society - International Reading Association (CLASS-IRA) is a registered student organization at Central Michigan University. CLASS-IRA strives to promote literacy among children and adults in our community and local schools.  Our organization is a chapter of both the Michigan Reading Association and the International Reading Association.  The main goal of CLASS-IRA is to provide professional development opportunities to CLASS-IRA members.  We will be bringing in speakers to help us better understand and prepare for the teaching field, with a focus on reading. Past speakers have included professors, MRA representatives, childrens book authors, and organizations such as Dog Tales. We also host numerous community projects to celebrate and promote literacy, including family reading nights at local elementary schools and free tutoring services for students.
