The Complete History of Western Music (Abridged) is the theme of this Winter/Spring 2010 Choir at HENAA (Home Education Network of the Albany Area.) Have you heard of 'Beethoven's Wig'? It's an album of famous classical music with silly words put to the melody line. Although we won't be doing that cd, that is the feel of our choir. In addition to learning an amusing medley of famous classical pieces in history: http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/The-Complete-History-of-Western-Music-Abridged/5642804 the members of choir will also be given music to write their own words to, which we will perform at a concert. This is both a choir and classical music appreciation course rolled in one fun time. Each day will consist of a brief lecture, singing, and working on the original lyrics for more singing. CONCERT IS MARCH 28th at 2pm Guilderland Library Yup. That's the perfect date since our last rehearsal is the Friday before. Please let me know if you cannot make the concert. Everyone is welcome to be in the Friday choir anyway, but I need to know to plan where people are standing. Please tell your family and friends to hold the date so we have a nice audience. Everyone should arrive by 1:30 for a vocal warm-up. 1:45 we'll seat people. Until we have the classical pieces written (by you!) it's hard to say how long it will be. Probably less than an hour. Please dress nicely with no logos or images on clothing, and no hats that shade or cover your face. Afterwards there will be refreshments provided by me and any other generous parents :) It is your responsibility to check this site every week! "Mp3 files" has our Classical Medley, which we will be using for the concert. It also has the extra pieces of music that you don't have on the cd you received the first day of class. "Weekly Lessons, Homework, and Fun" has a summary of each day in class, any interesting links, and your homework due the following week. When you are logged in as a user for this site, please go to "More Actions" at the top right of this page. Then click "Subscribe to Page Changes" so you know when a new file or homework has been added here. Feel free to continue to email me with questions and your homework assignments. |
