Ott Family Log Cabin:
Louie and Emma Ott raised their 18
children with a spirit of self-reliance and
personal responsibility. Emma did not live
to see her sixties. What little time
Louie and Emma had exclusive of direct
child rearing was spent on
meeting the daily needs for food, clothing
and shelter. Here household
and outdoor skills are demonstrated. Rug
making, weaving, cooking, gardening, butter
and soap making, Axemanship, blacksmithing,
shooting, sawing, carpentry, and cider making.
The cabin was dismantled on Memorial Day 2000,
and moved from section 11 in nearby Hatton Township.
