CLAPAM is short for Cleft Lip and Palate Association of Malaysia.

We’re a voluntary group of parents and professionals (such as plastic surgeons, dental specialists and speech therapists) who have some personal or professional involvement with children born with a cleft lip or palate.

Our aim? To help children with this birth defect grow up looking better, speaking better and fitting better. And face the world with a smile on their faces.

CLAPAM’S MISSION

  1. Give support and advice on feeding, speech and hearing. Especially to parents of newly born babies.
  2. Publish and distribute important information for parents and workers in the medical field.
  3. Provide an informal link between parents and professionals.
  4. Encourage and support research related to cleft lip and palate.
  5. Where supplementary funding is required, raise funds for activities and specific treatment or equipment.
  6. Conduct educational seminars for professional workers, parents and the general public.
  7. Further our aims on a national level.
